It was a foggy and muggy morning when we boarded the ferry to Diamond Cove. It always feels like a little bit more of an adventure when a wedding day starts on a boat! The weather forecast was a little touch and go all week but the raindrops held off for a beautiful day for Spencer and Alex.
When I first arrived Spencer was happy but also seemed a little quiet and maybe a tad nervous- which is pretty normal for a wedding day morning! Drew, the videographer, came in after documenting Alex and his groomsmen. Drew started talking about Alex and how awesome of a guy he was and Spencer lit up like a Christmas tree! Her whole body seemed to relax and switch to excitement mode. As she finished up with makeup, she jumped out of the chair, did a little happy dance, and it was go time!
We were running a bit behind but still were able to have the most picturesque first look on the point, get the bridal party and family photos done- all before the ceremony. Much thanks to a carefully crafted shot list by the bride and groom, things went very smooth and quick!
Spencer and Alex had some of the sweetest, most heartfelt vows I have heard. I don’t know if there was a dry eye in the house. As I write this I am realizing that they didn’t have any other speakers during the ceremony. I hadn’t noticed the day of because the ceremony was so full of loving words from the couple themselves.
The whole day was full of memorable moments, but one of my favorites was when Natalie, the Maid of Honor, pulled out some hand drawn pictures from her journal when she was just a little kid (maybe 8 or 9?) of Spencer and herself. How cool is it that they have been pretty much best buds for so long and one of Natalie’s first interaction with Spencer was documented in her journal and referred to Spencer as “the girl with black, curly hair”- I think that is just awesome!
Spencer and Alex were everything you could hope for in a couple on their wedding day. They were happy, sweet, kind, fun and clearly adored each other. Congratulations Alex and Spencer- all the best to you!
