“It’s happening!!” is a saying we heard over and over again Saturday- Jill & Travis were finally married at the beautiful Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine. The wedding was stunning and classic in every aspect, from start to finish.
I met Jill and Travis a couple years ago for their engagement session in Portland. It seems like forever ago! They had their engagement photos dotted around the venue and it was so awesome to be brought back to that fun session. Fast forward past the unfun part of rescheduling their wedding due to a global pandemic, to last Wednesday when Kerry (hubby/official second shooter) and I were out for a “date night.” We were really just scouting out the lighting at Hidden Pond and maybe grabbing a drink at Earth. We ran into Jill and Travis and Jill’s parents as they were unloading some beautiful furniture for the reception area. It was SO good to see them again! I mean, Kerry and I were already super excited to shoot at Hidden Pond (1- because it is stunning and 2- because it is four minutes from our home) but feeling Jill and Travis’s energy really amped up our excitement that much more. Not only did we get to shoot at one of the most epic wedding venues in Maine, but we had two amazing people to celebrate and document- it couldn’t get any better!
Hurricane Elsa rolled through Friday but brought beautiful weather for Saturday. The classy little houses at Hidden Pond set the tone for the day. The families had houses side by side. Jill and Travis were getting ready for one of the best days of their lives just a few feet from each other. Jill had a first look with her dad- which was as sweet as can be. Her and Travis also had a first look…again, so sweet an emotional. But the person that took home the gold for the most emotional connection: Jill’s grandfather. Every time they were near each other there were hugs and kisses and tears. Not just Jill’s tears, but every person’s tears who was witnessing this beautiful connection. I even had to lock it up a few times- I am the professional after all!
The beautiful ceremony was followed up by fun and festivity at an elegant reception. Perfectly decorated tables were set up outside under a clear tent, letting the glowing light of the setting sun shine through. I can’t write this blog post without mentioning the food. Hidden Pond has the BEST wedding food in all the land! I am a vegetarian so I passed on the chicken and beef (Kerry devoured them and couldn’t say enough about how delicious they were) but their was this pesto pasta and a Maine grain polenta…which was pretty much heaven in warm cheese form…that I could eat every night for the rest of my life.
Thank you to Travis, for falling in love with a Maine girl- I am sure you can rock a flannel with the best of them! Jill kept referring to their wedding day as “magical.” In every form, in every way, the day was indeed magical. We were so honored to be there to photograph every elegant detail, every sweet moment, every smile and every tear.
Thank you guys! Congratulations and all our best to you!
