Wedding season has officially started and Jenny & Faisal kicked it off with a beautiful celebration in Kennebunkport, Maine. I’m not sure if some record lows were set…but it was chilly. When I woke up the morning of the wedding I jokingly thought to myself I should grab a winter hat. A couple hours later I saw Kerry put two winter hats on the table next to our gear bags- ah!
I am sure it was not the June wedding Jenny and Faisal had planned, as far as weather was concerned, but it was perfect in every way that mattered. Jenny was so cool and calm and collected (which I believe is how her sister described her during the Maid of Honor toast) the entire day, except for maybe one minute before the first look with her dad. All the beautiful emotion of the day came rushing in. This is common and pretty expected during wedding days….what was not expected was Jenny’s sister doing jumping jacks and yelling “Bruce Jenner!” in Jenny’s face. It was quite entertaining and instantly gave Jenny the giggles. Sweet moments like this continued throughout the entire day.
I think the only thing that was more consistent than the rain was Faisal’s smile. He was so genuinely happy all day long- as you can see from the photos! Kerry and I were constantly updating our radar apps all day long. Just waiting for a break in the rain. It didn’t look like it was going to happen but then by some miracle the rain stopped and we had a feeling it was going to be our only opportunity to get some non-umbrellas shots. So out we all rushed and it was amazing! We had 20 perfectly cloudy minutes to have some fun by the water. And as soon as we wrapped portraits up the rain came in again and didn’t stop for the rest of the night… but no one cared, the party was on and everyone was warm and dry under the nice, big, ocean side tent.
So what if it felt like early November in New England. So what if it rained 95% of the day. The ceremony was moved inside- whatever. The schedule did not go according to plan- oh well. It was a beautiful, perfect, fun and loved filled day!
Congratulations Jenny & Faisal!
