Last Saturday started off a little different then other wedding Saturdays. Kerry and I were supposed to both be heading to Boothbay Harbor for a beautiful wedding at Linekin Bay. However, I was driving up solo. Our littlest kiddo was ill. Bad enough for where we both knew it was best for Kerry to stay home and take him to the doctors and just be with him for the day. I knew deep in my heart this was the right decision but that didn’t make a forced day of wedding change any easier. I tried so hard to find another photographer to come with me but 9/9/23 was a super popular wedding date and everyone was fully booked. So, solo I was. I had called Erin but the reception was spotty and it was hard to explain the situation over the phone. I am completely comfortable shooting by myself, it is just the fact that two photographers were booked months and months ago, and only one was showing up. It wasn’t sitting well with me and my type A personality, and on top of that I was super worried about our kiddo. It was quite a morning, people!
When I arrived to Linekin Bay, Erin had all the details ready to go- which was perfect because my mama mind needed to be busy immediately! Erin was so sweet and kind and didn’t show any ounce of being upset with the change of plans. I know I would have been upset if it was my wedding day! So the chaos in my mind was compartmentalized, because there was work to be done and a beautiful wedding to document! The weather was perfect…like actually could not have been any better kind of perfect. And we had two people who were so in love and ready to be married!
Erin and Mikey shared a sweet first look on the dock followed by a very organized family formal session- Erin had give me a detailed list of shots and made that time go very smoothly. After that, the couple took a boat ride around the harbor- one of my very favorite things that happens at Linekin Bay on a wedding day. It is such a sweet, calm and private time for couples. Mikey and Erin had some champagne and enjoyed the sights of Maine’s beautiful coast line. A wedding day is FULL of events and couple’s minds are FULL of details. These 20 or so minutes is a time they can take a breath and really just savor the moment.
The ceremony was the shortest ceremony I have ever documented. Erin walked down the isle and the officiant immediately went into their vows. I figured they might just be rearranging the order of events a little differently, but nope, straight to the point then straight to cocktail hour! Which is exactly what Erin and Mikey wanted.
The rest of the night went as perfectly as the beginning of the day. The couple danced around their high energy bridal party for hours. I am so thankful for their super goofy and crazy bridal party. They kept my spirit up and heart light with all their shenanigans ALL day. The energy, from the bridal party, family and friends was on point from start to finish! Shots were flowing from the bar, Mikey and Erin were lifted off the dance floor in chairs, laughter was thick in the air and hot dance moves were burning up the building. All in all, an absolutely wonderful day!
