I was watching the weather like a hawk all week. And I KNOW Navaan was doing the same. Now, rain is not a deal breaker for a wedding day. In fact, it can be downright romantic. However, with all the formals planned for outside with a very large group and a bride that was praying to any and all weather gods for no rain, a washout would not have been the best outcome. A full rain forecast was turning into a shower/thunderstorm forecast, though. Then by midweek it was spotty showers. On Saturday morning, the day of Anthony and Navann’s wedding, it looked like the showers were going to hold off until after our planned outside first look and portraits- YES! The timeline we had set was bumped way up to avoid any undesirable weather, so when Kerry and I showed up for the getting ready portion of the day, we were off to the races! These guys and girls were fired up to get this day started- 30 minutes later we were on route to the amazing Portland Headlight. The radar was still on our side!
With the weather stress out of the way, we were able to settle in and get some amazing shots with the bride and groom and their super fun wedding party. Not going to lie here, sometimes larger wedding parties are hard to wrangle. Most of the time they are excited and happy to be together, ready to party. Navann and Anthony’s wedding party walked that very fine line of super fun AND cooperative- no easy task! They crushed it! It is like they knew the more they listened, the faster the photos would be done and the quicker they could get to the party.
It was such a pleasure to spend the day with Navann and Anthony’s friends and family. My only regret is that we did not get to spend more time with them! Even after adding an hour onto our photo day, I still could have stayed longer and photographed the crew into the morning hours. Anthony and Navann are the type of people that other people gravitate towards. They were full of charisma and just so pleasant to photograph.
Congratulations Navann and Anthony- all the best to you!
