Katie & Joey have one of the sweetest stories I have ever heard. Eight years ago Chuck Baxter decided to cancel his canoe expedition in college. Now, Chuck Baxter was not present at this wedding, but his action were directly involved in the happenings of this exact wedding. You see, if good old Chuck went on that trip Katie would never have gone and might not have ever met Joey, who just happened to be heading the adventure. But Chuck didn’t go and Katie was first in line to sign up in his spot. Fate is a funny thing. I always wonder if a couple never met how they did, would they meet in some other way on some other fate driven path. Or would life just take them in different directions? I like to think people are destined to be together and that one way or another Katie and Joey would have eventually met if Chuck Baxter had never canceled his 10 day canoe expedition.
Joey actually wrote his vows in 2019. 2019….their wedding was this past Saturday, September 17, 2022. What a guy! He knew deep down he was going to marry this beautiful girl he met on that college canoe trip. Not only were Katie and Joey’s vows under the great evergreen trees at Granite Ridge Estate amazing, their whole ceremony was amazing moment after amazing moment. The officiant, Katie’s Uncle, had a lot of audience participation with singing and merriment. There was a Celtic Knot ceremony. And after everything was sung and done, Katie and Joey actually danced down the isle on their way to married life together. Now, if there is a better way to start a marriage, I would like to know, because I’m not sure if anything beats dancing down the isle with your new spouse!
I had an amazing time photographing this wedding. Not only did I get to drive back through my hometown area of Oxford Hills, I got to witness an incredible couple joined together in an amazing way. Congratulations Katie & Joey- I wish you all the best and GOD BLESS CHUCK BAXTER!
