Emily & Stephen were married on, yet another, rainy day on the coast of Maine. Their wedding day was uniquely set up with two ceremonies, one at the Star of the Sea Church and the other on the lawn of Union Bluff. After the church ceremony, which was sweet and intimate, we headed to Nubble Lighthouse. It was basically a hurricane out there! The rain was coming down sideways, the wind was gusting at top speed and Emily and Steve still wanted to brave it- I was pumped! It is not everyday one gets to photograph such an adventurous couple, or group I should say. The groomsmen decided they were going to help and stop mother nature with their umbrellas by creating a human wall. I am not sure how much it helped the wind, but Emily and Stephen loved it and it created a moment I will never forget and I hope they remember forever as well!
It was cold and wet and windy…and it didn’t stop all day. Usually there is a break in the rain at some point, but not Saturday! We made our way back to Union Bluff where the wedding party braved the weather for some more fun shots by the beach. We couldn’t have been more thankful for such a fearless group to be outside on such a day! They truly made the rain not only bearable but super fun to be in.
We called it a day for outside fun after that and everyone decided to warm up with some cocktails and hot jams from DJ Shyne who always rocks the dance floor and once again did not disappoint! There was even a personal shout out to Emily and Steve from Brian Baumgartner AKA “Kevin” from the office.
A couple of HUGE thanks yous I need to address: Hannah, of Hannah Jenkins Photography- what a gem of a human! She jumped in when Kerry couldn’t be there and completely rocked it! Union Bluff for providing clear umbrellas for the entire bridal party. And lastly, Emily and Stephen and there wonderful friends and family of the wedding party. It honestly would have been a struggle of a day if we did not have this amazingly tough and brave group. I don’t think they realized how much their enthusiasm and “let’s go for it” attitude determined the awesomeness of the day. It was a FUN wedding…a really really FUN wedding to photograph, when it easily could have been very very stressful wedding to photograph. Hats off to those beautiful, soaking wet, freezing cold souls!
Congratulations Emily & Steve- so happy for you both!
